This chair stands out with two large back slats and a head rest between
the back frame. The frame runs down until the back legs taper. Between
the sides of the legs are triangle slats.

This chair is a model of careful construction, with exposed mortise joints on either side of its downward-arched end cap, and on the ends of the stretcher between the base trestles. The base has legs tapering upward, and two pairs of side slats in the same shape. Two broad slats that taper at the top are what make the Fremont chair distinct.
