Why Choose Solid Wood Beds Over Mass-Produced Options?

Bed Construction

None of our beds are built with particle boards containing harsh and toxic glues filled with chemicals. Each Amish-made bed is crafted from solid hardwood, shaped, cut, refined, and finished into environmentally friendly heirloom furniture masterpieces. The hardwood used in our beds is sustainably harvested domestically in the Midwest using the most environmentally friendly harvesting techniques. Once the wood is harvested, it is processed in nearby mills to minimize pollution and energy costs before taking a short journey to our builder’s shops, where our environmentally friendly furniture pieces are handcrafted.

Made from Solid Hardwoods

Each bed is crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, cherry, maple, and hickory, ensuring durability and longevity. The natural beauty of these woods enhances the aesthetic appeal of your bedroom while providing a sturdy and reliable foundation for your bed. These hardwoods are known for their strength, which ensures that your Amish bed will stand the test of time and remain a cherished part of your home for generations.

Steel Bracket Construction

The beds feature steel brackets for the strongest possible construction. The bracket is made of steel, providing the strongest construction. It also has a ledge on the bottom for the rail to rest on, so all the weight is on the bracket. This design not only adds to the bed’s durability but also ensures a stable and secure setup, providing peace of mind and lasting comfort.

Dovetail Slat Construction

Our beds use dovetail slat construction with four slats per bed. Dovetail slat construction with 4 slats per bed. King-size beds have four support legs, and queen size beds have two support legs (full/twin beds do not require support legs). This method involves precision craftsmanship that enhances the structural integrity of the bed. This robust construction ensures that the bed remains sturdy and supportive, regardless of the size.

Bed Styles & Wood

The styles of Amish-made beds we offer range from traditional styles such as Mission, Shaker, Queen Anne, and pieces with a blend of the three to rustic log furniture built by hand from natural pine wood. Our traditionally styled beds are available in the most popular domestic woods, including oak, ¼ sawn white oak, cherry, brown maple, hard maple, hickory, rustic cherry, and rustic hickory. According to the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA), these hardwoods are all known for their beauty, durability, and strength.

Each wood type has at least 3-4 stain colors that can be applied to match your current décor scheme or other furniture pieces. We can also paint your bed in about any color you desire. The most popular paint colors are white and black with a matte finish. If you don’t see the stain color or paint you are looking for on our site, please contact us and we can make arrangements to match a different color you have in mind by producing custom wood samples. Whatever the type of Amish furniture you are looking for, we have your needs covered.

Customization Options

Custom Amish beds are crafted from a variety of high-quality woods, including oak, cherry, and maple. Each wood type offers unique benefits; for instance, oak is known for its strength and durability, while cherry provides a rich, warm finish. Customization options abound, allowing customers to select the size, finish, and style of the headboard and footboard. This level of customization ensures that each bed can be tailored to fit individual decor preferences and spatial requirements. Choosing the right material is crucial, as it not only affects the bed's durability but also its aesthetic appeal, ensuring a perfect match with the room’s decor.

Benefits of Choosing Amish Beds

  • Heirloom Quality: Built to last for generations with proper care, thanks to solid wood construction and meticulous craftsmanship.
  • Eco-Friendly: Amish furniture production prioritizes sustainability by using responsibly harvested wood and non-toxic finishes.
  • Timeless Beauty: The classic designs of Amish beds complement any décor, adding a touch of elegance and warmth to your bedroom.
  • Uniqueness & Artisan Skill: Owning an Amish bed means having a one-of-a-kind piece infused with the care and skill of the artisan who made it.

How to Choose the Right Amish Bed for Your Home?

When selecting high-quality bedroom furniture, consider the size and layout of your bedroom to ensure the bed fits comfortably without overcrowding the space. Matching the bed style with your home decor is also essential; for instance, a shaker bed may complement a minimalist design, while a canopy bed might suit a more luxurious setting. Maintenance is straightforward, but following a few simple tips can extend the life of your bed. Regular dusting and occasional polishing will keep the wood looking its best, and using a mattress protector can help maintain the bed's comfort and cleanliness.

Customer Testimonials

“My experience with the Amish Furniture Factory was amazing. I had been searching for a sleigh bed for quite some time… The beautifully stunning bed arrived. The craftsmanship of this bed is incredible and worth every penny and moment we waited. This is a very heavy bed that will last for generations. I can’t say enough about how pleased we are and the craftsmanship is beyond expectations. It is worth the price and wait.”

“As you can see from the pictures, our furniture is beautiful. It also arrived earlier than we expected so that was a great surprise. We were color-matching our dressers and thanks to the samples you sent us the color is perfect. The delivery crew was very professional and careful. We are extremely pleased and give you a full score.”

“I’m very pleased with the furniture, the construction is solid and finely made. It was well worth waiting for the soft close undermount drawer slides, they operate so smoothly and the self-close is elegant. I was a little surprised at how massive the pieces are, even though I was expecting them to be large. These are quarter sawn white oak, there is some very pretty wood here.”
