There’s simply nothing that compares to the stylish and sophisticated look of authentic hardwood floors. Its richly smooth texture and deep natural colors offers a warm addition to any home or cabin. However, one of the complaints owners have regarding hardwood floors is the fact that furniture placed on top of it slides easily. Certain couches, recliners<\/a>, love seats and other types of common living room furniture will glide across the hardwood surface when just a small amount of pressure is placed against it. If you are experiencing this problem, keep reading to learn some simple ways to prevent furniture from sliding on hardwood floors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use a Rug<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, one of the easiest techniques to prevent furniture from sliding on hardwood floors is to use a rug. Placing a rug in between the furniture and floor will create a barrier of protection and hopefully<\/em> prevents it from sliding. Rugs are also highly decorative accessories that bring more life and vibrancy to the atmosphere. The only real downside is that a rug might look slightly awkward placed directly underneath a piece of furniture.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are adamant on using a rug, it’s recommended that you first place a pad underneath; otherwise, your furniture and<\/em> rug will likely slide. Most rug stores sell pads that go underneath the rug to prevent it from sliding. When you are shopping for a new rug, keep your eyes peeled for a matching-sized pad. To ensure it works and serves its function appropriately, you must choose a pad in the same size as you rug.

Cork Stickers

Alternatively, you can use place small cork stickers on the bottom of your furniture to prevent it from sliding. These things work by creating a secure grip between the furniture and hardwood floor. Just peel the adhesive backing off the cork stickers and place them on the bottom of your furniture. in addition to preventing your furniture from sliding, they will also help to protect your floor<\/a> from scuffs and damage. Cork is a soft, spongy material that won’t leave behind imperfections in your floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rugs and cork stickers are just two of the many ways you can prevent your furniture from sliding on hardwood floors. Don’t be afraid to experiment with other techniques not listed here. With a little work and dedication, you can prevent your furniture from sliding once and for all.
